Things are going well. I finally feel like I'm starting to get the hang of this mommy thing. Jake has gotten so big (see the pictures below) and is VERY mobile.
Jake is now 16 months old (well almost 17 months old) and is learning, growing and doing new things all the time. Here are some of the new things he can do:
run (and boy is he fast)
drink from a sippy cup (although he still prefers a bottle but they are all about cups at daycare since he’s now in the toddler room)
eat with a fork/spoon (not everything makes it into his mouth but he does a good job)
climb up stairs (which is a good thing because we live in a 3 level townhouse and there are 12 stairs from one floor to the next. We really need to start working on learning how to go down the stairs)
point to pictures in a book when I say something like “where is the ball” or where is mama when we are looking at photo album
point to the following body parts: belly, hair, head, nose, mouth, teeth, eyes, ears, and toes
follow verbal directions without any gestures like when I tell him to bring me something or I ask him to put away a toy (which doesn’t always work ;))
say the following words: hi and bye (although he’s been doing that for a while now), mama (which is very clear now), ball, ba ba (which means bottle), dog, up, down and plane
Jake loves going to the park and playing on the swings and slide. He also loves (and I do mean LOVES) Barney.

What a big boy Jake is becoming! I am very happy that I missed the barney stage with my girls.
