Not Much To Report

Still nothing new to report on travel dates. Every month I think “this is going to be it” but then it isn’t. I’m trying not to be too bummed out but some days it’s really hard especially when people whose documents went to Kaz after mine have already traveled. I know there are people who have been waiting longer than me and I don’t know how they haven’t gone completely nuts. Don't you wish life was always fair? Maybe I'll get a really nice birthday present next month!

In happier news I have made some progress on the baby’s room. I put together the crib (thanks Eve!), the new changing table and glider (thanks Mom!). I put on the bedding that I had previously bought which probably isn’t going to work now (it’s too girly). I’ve been looking into other bedding but I don’t want to buy anything until I know for sure whether I’m getting a girl or boy. I'm still not sure how I want to arrange the room. I need to have my Mom come over to give me a second opinion. Here are a couple of pictures:

As I mentioned in a prior post I’ve been trying to do some adoption related reading but I decided that I also needed to start doing some parenting reading since I am a first time parent. My most recent purchase was a book called “Parenting Your Internationally Adopted Child: From Your First Hours Together Through the Teen Years” by Patty Cogen. I have only read about 75 pages but I think this will end up being a valuable resource. My sister also got me a couple of other parenting books: “What to Expect the First Year” and “What to Expect the Toddler Years" so I have plenty to keep myself busy.

It's a Small World

A couple of months ago I bought a bunch of books on international adoption/attachment and it's been taking me some time to work my way through them. One of the books that I got was on cross cultural adoption. I never really pay that much attention to author's names on these types of things. For some reason when I looked at this particular book the other day the name suddenly was familiar. I looked through the book to see if there was any information on the author and when I looked on the back cover I knew for sure - it turns out I went to law school with one of the authors (and her husband). Too funny. :)

A New Year, A New Look

I wish I had some good news to report but I’m still in wait mode. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I will travel soon. In the meantime I thought it would be a good idea to give this blog a facelift. The person responsible for the BEAUTIFUL new look is my dear friend Donna. I’d like to take this opportunity to publicly thank her for all her hard work (and her patience for putting up with me through the changes). I’m thrilled with how great it turned out.
